Caleb Moran – 2026 Pilot Winner (Half-Hour)
Third Wheel
An insecure 20-something trying to navigate the New York dating scene can't seem to shake the one thing holding him back — an imaginary 11-year-old version of himself who shows up at the worst possible moments.
Caleb Moran is a comedy writer-actor with work spanning features, half-hour TV, and live performance. He is currently seeking representation.
Third Wheel is a high concept (but not high cost *wink*) show about how we are all followed around (and dragged down) by the insecurities wired into our brains at a young age. The show was inspired by Caleb’s time as a husky pre-teen spent imagining how cool it would be to talk to a girl and avoiding being picked for skins in a pickup basketball game.
Caleb was hired as a freelance comedy writer to develop material for David Letterman’s Mark Twain Prize appearance honoring Conan O’Brien in March 2025. He recently completed a run of Manic! At the Disco on The Second City NYC Mainstage as part of the Second City Conservatory program. He has trained at UCB and regularly performs sketch and improv around New York City.
In addition to Third Wheel, Caleb has written two features. Sellout is a comedy feature about an unemployed journalist who moves back to his hometown and becomes an escort to wealthy suburban housewives. Out of Tune is a coming-of-age feature about an 80s music-obsessed teen whose bohemian grandfather helps him chase his dreams while stirring up family dysfunction.
Before pivoting to writing and acting full-time, he served as deputy press secretary for the 2020 Biden presidential campaign in Pennsylvania. He holds a BA in American Studies from Yale University.
