After losing the visa-sponsored job that brought her to New York, a directionless aspiring artist has sixty days to find a new sponsor or leave the country. As she navigates the city's artists, eccentrics, and unlikely allies, she's forced to figure out what kind of life she's willing to fight for.
Catalina Quintana is a writer of character-driven features, half-hour and hour television. She is currently seeking representation.
In the Meantime began with a question: if survival is the goal, when do you get to live? After years spent moving between creative fields, Catalina found herself repeatedly hearing that the work she loved was about to be replaced by AI. As job hunting began to feel increasingly futile, she became interested in the gap between the life people build to survive and the life they actually want. The series explores ambition, identity, friendship, and the difficult process of deciding which dreams are worth fighting for.
For most of her life, Catalina thought she wanted to make Pixar movies. Because she could draw, everyone assumed she wanted to be an animator. She assumed it too. It took her an embarrassingly long time to realize that what she actually loved was storytelling. She studied Visual Arts before earning a degree in Audiovisual and Multimedia Communications. Along the way, she worked in illustration, graphic design, and other creative fields before eventually noticing that every road somehow led back to writing.
In addition to In the Meantime, Catalina is developing new television and feature projects. She hopes to build a career creating stories that are funny, emotionally honest, and deeply interested in people.
